TRAVELING TO MYANMAR
Yangon International Airport located in Mingaladon, at 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) north of downtown Yangon, is the primary and busiest international airport inAMyanmar. The airport’s old terminal is used exclusively for domestic flights, and the new terminal, in operation since May 2007, handles international flights. Airport capacity wasAboosted to 6 million passengers per year in early 2016.AAll ten Burmese carriers and about 20 international airlines operate out of Yangon International.
Although mostAtravellers arriving from international destinations enter Myanmar throughAYangon International Airport, some carriers also land at theAMandalay International Airport and theANap Pyi Taw International Airport.
Due to a lack of international carriers operating direct flights from international destinations to Yangon, most visitors will have to travel through other larger destinations in the region such as Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, or Singapore. Regional carriers flying to Yangon include AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Bangkok Airways, Thai Airways, and Vietnam Airlines.
Airport Tax
An Airport Tax of 10 USD is levied on all passengers leaving Myanmar on international flights, which is paid at the airport of departure.
