About the IASP Pain Management Camp

The Myanmar Society for the Study of Pain (MSSP) is organizing the 7th Association of South East Asian Pain Societies (ASEAPS) Congress on February 2017. The ASEAPS congress is a biennial congress organized by the Pain Societies from ASEAN a�� Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Myanmar. Starting from 4th ASEAPS congress, it is usually preceded by a Pain Management Camp and a Pain Refresher Course. Since 2011, Pain Management Camp is successfully done in Thailand, Singapore and Philippines.

The IASP and ASEAPS are pleased to invite the country chapters, medical societies, academic institutions and individuals to nominate or apply for the IASP Pain Management Camp 2017 which will take place on February, 2017 in Myanmar.

The International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) Pain Management Camp 2017 is the fourth pain education project which will take place in Myanmar, supported by IASP and co-organized by the Association of South East Asian Pain Societies and the Myanmar Society for the Study of Pain. In conjunction with the ASEAPS congress 2017 in Myanmar, the camp will be done from February 12 to 16, 2017 at Sky Star Hotel, Yangon, Myanmar. A pain refresher course will be given at Shangri-La Hotel, Yangon on February 16, 2017.

The goal of the camp is to understand the pain concepts and the basics in interdisciplinary pain management for the healthcare workers in Asia who are interested in pain medicine. The five days intensive course will allow the informative and interesting topics concerning day-to-day clinical practice as well as those which help mould participants into pain management educators and advocates.

The main objectives of the program are:

  1. To improve participantsa�� knowledge of pain physiology, diagnosis and management
  2. To provide an impetus for pain practitioners in Asian countries to develop their painA�management infrastructure, or enhance existing infrastructure
  3. To foster closer collaboration among Asian pain practitioners
  4. To raise the level of care for the Asian pain patient
